The numbers you type stay on your device

Every calculator on Tallyroo runs entirely in your browser. The property prices, deposits and selections you enter are never transmitted to us or stored by us, and they are never written into the page address while you type. When you tap “Share this result”, the link encodes your inputs after a # — the part of a web address that browsers keep to themselves and never send to any server, ours included — so anyone you send it to sees the same result, and the values still never reach us. Close the tab and they're gone.

What we do collect

Aggregated website analytics: pages visited, approximate region, device type and how you found us. We use this to understand which calculators help people and where to improve. None of it is used to identify you, and none of it includes what you typed into a calculator.

It is measured two ways, and they are not the same kind of thing. Cloudflare Web Analytics is a small script our host adds to each page, which sends a page-view count, with how long the page took to load, from your browser to Cloudflare. It sets no cookie and stores nothing on your device, so there is nothing to agree to and nothing to switch off. Google Analytics tells us more — which pages people arrive on, and what they read next — but it does set a cookie.

Because it sets a cookie, Google Analytics is not loaded for everyone. If you are visiting from the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, it loads only after you have accepted the notice at the bottom of the page; decline and it is never loaded at all. If we cannot tell where you are visiting from, we ask rather than assume. Your answer is kept in your browser’s local storage, on your device only, so the notice does not ask again. The page counts above run either way, so declining costs you nothing and costs us very little.

To change your answer, use Cookie choices at the very bottom of any page: the notice comes back, and choosing “No thanks” switches Google Analytics off straight away and deletes the cookies it set. It works the same wherever you are visiting from, so anyone can opt out of Google Analytics this way.

Advertising

Tallyroo is free and supported by advertising, served by Google AdSense. Ads are not running yet: until they appear, no advertising cookies are set. What follows applies from the day they start.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites, and third parties may place and read cookies in your browser, or use web beacons or IP addresses, to collect information as a result of ads being served here. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. If another ad network is ever added, it will be named here, with a link to its own policy.

You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google in Google's Ads Settings, and from other participating vendors at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.com. Google explains how it uses advertising cookies at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. Opting out doesn't remove ads — they just stop being personalised.

Where your region's law requires it — including for visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland — a consent choice will be presented through a Google-certified consent management platform before any advertising cookies are set, and you will be able to decline. Analytics consent is handled by the notice described above, which is ours rather than a vendor’s. Advertising will not be switched on before that is in place.

Advertising never influences calculator results, and no advertiser is told what you typed into a calculator.
